Privacy Policy

Last updated 1 June 2026.

Carbonle is an independently run daily puzzle. The short version: the game runs in your browser, there are no accounts, and we never see your puzzle history. The detail is below.

What we store

Your progress, streak and statistics live only in your browser's local storage, on your device. They are never sent to us, and clearing your browser data erases them. There is no login, no player profile, and no server-side database of players.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages get read, in aggregate. It sets cookies and sends usage data to Google: pages viewed, approximate location from a shortened IP address, and device and browser type. For visitors in the EU and UK we ask for consent before these cookies load, and you can decline or change that choice at any time. Google's own handling is set out in Google's privacy policy.

Advertising

Carbonle may show ads from Google AdSense. When ads are running, Google and its partners may use cookies or similar identifiers to serve and measure them and to show personalized or non-personalized ads. In the EU and UK we ask for consent first through a consent banner, and you can withdraw it whenever you like. You can manage ad personalization at Google Ad Settings, and see how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Your rights

Under the GDPR (EU/UK) and CCPA (California) you can ask what data is held about you, have it deleted, and opt out of ad personalization. We hold no personal data ourselves, so the controls are mostly in your hands: clear your local game data in your browser, withdraw analytics or ad consent, or use the Google links above. For anything else, email us and we'll help.

Children

Carbonle is for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top, and note anything significant on the page.
